ApixTower is more than an uptime monitor. You add monitors for APIs, TCP/Telnet ports, HTTPS endpoints, DNS, certificates, databases, and ordered MTCIT integration chains; on every interval it checks, stores results, classifies failures with evidence when status changes, shows them in an Operations Workspace, sends alerts through 90+ providers, publishes status pages, and exports JSON operational reports. It runs entirely on your infrastructure with privacy-first defaults and no outbound telemetry.

The challenge
Integration teams especially around government API gateways needed evidence-backed incident intelligence, not just green/red pings. They needed multi-hop chain monitoring, certificate/domain expiry alerts, enterprise notification routing, and status pages, all self-hosted with no data leaving their network.
The solution
A self-hosted platform with a rich monitor-type registry (HTTP with keywords/JSON/OAuth2, raw TCP/Telnet, DNS, WebSocket, gRPC, MQTT, databases, Docker health, real-browser via Playwright, MTCIT chains), failure classification on status transitions, 90+ notification channels, custom-branded status pages with incident history, and JSON report exports with opt-in-only update checks and self-hosted fonts.
Architecture
Node.js ≥20.4 + Express + Socket.IO backend with a monitor-type registry and notification-provider layer; Vue 3 + Vite + Vue I18n frontend with a custom Apix SCSS theme; SQLite (or MariaDB/MySQL/PostgreSQL) via redbean-node and Knex migrations; JWT + bcrypt + TOTP 2FA; Docker image devix/apixtower on default port 3001.
Key features
- HTTP/TCP/Telnet/DNS/WebSocket/gRPC/DB
- multi-hop chain monitoring with hop diagnostics
- Failure classification with evidence on status change
- 90+ notification channels (SMTP, webhooks, HaloPSA…)
- Custom-branded status pages with incident history
- Certificate and domain expiry alerts
- JSON operational report exports
- Privacy-first, no telemetry, self-hosted
